DENVER — Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today appointed Cory Jackson to the District Court in the 7th Judicial District. He fills a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable David Westfall.
Jackson currently serves as a County Court Judge in Ouray County, a position he has held since 2015. In this capacity, Judge Jackson presides over civil cases, felony complaints, misdemeanors, traffic infractions, civil protection orders and small claims matters. Jackson also serves as a Municipal Court Judge in the City of Ouray (2015-present), the Town of Ridgeway (2015-present), and the Town of Telluride (2015-present). Before becoming a judicial officer, Jackson was a sole practitioner (2012-2014), and Corporate Counsel for Tri County Telephone Association, Inc. in Basin, WY (2006-2012). Jackson earned his undergraduate degree from Colorado College in 2002 and his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2005.
Jackson’s appointment is effective immediately.
