Many state offices closed on Monday

DENVER — Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 — In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, many state offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20.

State driver’s license offices, the Department of Public Health and Environment’s vital records office and executive branch departments will be among the facilities closed Monday.

Most of Colorado’s state parks will be open but the visitor centers and administrative offices will be closed. State troopers will be patrolling the highways and Department of Transportation maintenance crews will be working as necessary.

Gov. Hickenlooper names new Chief Recovery Officer

DENVER — Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today announced Molly Urbina will become the state’s new Chief Recovery Officer. She will succeed IHS Inc. Executive Chairman Jerre Stead, who will leave his position with the state next month.

Urbina, now the deputy manager at Denver’s Community Planning and Development Department, will coordinate with all state agencies and local and federal partners to ensure Colorado continues a coordinated and thoughtful recovery effort after the September flooding.

Gov. Hickenlooper: The state of our state is strong

DENVER — Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today delivered his fourth State of the State address and talked about jobs and the economic health of Colorado, as well as successful efforts to create a solid budget for the state, build reserves and eliminate bureaucracy.

He also spoke about the challenges faced by Coloradans in the past year, from fires to floods to shootings.

Gov. Hickenlooper plans economic development stops Friday and Saturday in La Plata, Mesa and Routt counties

DENVER — Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 — Gov. John Hickenlooper will join the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade on Friday and Saturday to meet with various businesses and community leaders in La Plata, Mesa and Routt Counties and discuss economic development.

Gov. Hickenlooper to recognize state employees for continuous flood recovery efforts

DENVER — Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 —  Gov. John Hickenlooper will join state employees from the Department of Local Affairs, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Public Safety, the Office of Emergency Management and other state agencies to recognize their flood recovery efforts at an employee appreciation event on Monday, Jan. 6, at History Colorado.
