Gov. Hickenlooper orders flags lowered in honor of Spc. Rob L. Nichols

DENVER — Wednesday, July 31, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings on Saturday, Aug. 3, in honor of Army Spc. Rob L. Nichols of Colorado Springs. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.

Nichols, 24, was killed in action in Afghanistan on July 23, 2013. He was assigned to B Company, 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, both awarded posthumously.

DENVER — Tuesday, May 14, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings on Thursday, May 16, in honor of Cpl. David Sonka, a Marine from Parker who was killed in Afghanistan. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.

Sonka, 23, was killed in action in Afghanistan on May 4, 2013. He was assigned to the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion in Camp Lejeune, N.C.

President Obama orders flags lowered for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on April 15 in Boston

DENVER — Tuesday, April 16, 2013 — President Barack Obama today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff nationwide on all public buildings as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on April 15 in Boston. Flags should be lowered until sunset on Saturday, April 20.

Gov. Hickenlooper orders flags lowered for Tom Clements

DENVER — Wednesday, March 20, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff all public buildings statewide in memory of Tom Clements, executive director of the Colorado Department of Corrections.

Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset until the day after his funeral. Arrangements are pending.

Clements, 58, was killed Tuesday night at his home in Monument. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and two daughters, Rachel and Sara. His family is requesting privacy at this time.

DENVER — Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 — President Barack Obama has ordered flags be lowered to half-staff on public buildings nationwide as a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding service of U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, President pro tempore of the Senate. Flags should be lowered until sunset on the day of his interment.
