President Obama orders flags lowered Friday to observe the Day of Remembrance for President Kennedy

DENVER — Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings on Friday, Nov. 22, in remembrance of President John F. Kennedy and as proclaimed by President Barack Obama.

Gov. Hickenlooper orders flags lowered for Army Staff Sgt. Liam Nevins

DENVER — Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings on Wednesday, Oct. 2, in honor of Army Staff Sgt. Liam Nevins of Denver. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.

Nevins was killed Sept. 21, 2013, in Logar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He died of injuries sustained in Paktia Province, Afghanistan, from small arms fire. Nevins was assigned to B Company, 5th Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group, Army National Guard, Watkins, Colo.

Gov. Hickenlooper orders flags lowered in honor of Spc. Rob L. Nichols

DENVER — Wednesday, July 31, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings on Saturday, Aug. 3, in honor of Army Spc. Rob L. Nichols of Colorado Springs. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.

Nichols, 24, was killed in action in Afghanistan on July 23, 2013. He was assigned to B Company, 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, both awarded posthumously.
