DENVER — Wednesday, July 2, 2014 — Gov. John Hickenlooper will join Dr. Larry Wolk, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and health experts on Thursday to announce significant results of an effort to help reduce teen birth rates in Colorado.

The Colorado Family Planning Initiative has provided more than 30,000 intrauterine devices or implants at low or no cost to low-income women at 68 family planning clinics across Colorado since 2009. The family planning initiative has also helped thousands of young women avoid unintended pregnancy, and it has helped reduce social and economic costs to Colorado.
