DENVER — Tuesday, April 22, 2014 — Gov. John Hickenlooper will join Estes Park officials, community leaders and business owners on Wednesday to celebrate the land purchase for the new Anschutz Health & Wellness Center in Estes Park.

WHEN: 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014

WHERE: 333 E. Wonderview Ave., Estes Park (open land just east of the Stanley Hotel)

Background: On April 1, Estes Park voters approved the sale of Lot 4 (6.88 acres of public land) to Grand Heritage Hotel Group LLC and Estes Park Medical Center for $1.325 million. This property sale paves the way to move forward with plans to build an Anschutz Health & Wellness Center at the Stanley Hotel -- a public-private partnership that brings together medical research from the University of Colorado’s Anschutz Health & Wellness Center, medical expertise and staff from the Estes Park Medical Center, and hospitality industry marketing and operations capabilities from the Grand Heritage Hotel Group.

This coalition will build a 15,000-square-foot wellness facility focused on physical fitness, metabolic fitness, nutritional fitness, sleep, stress and quality of life/life satisfaction. An adjacent 50-room boutique hotel designed to cater to wellness center guests and their families and a new professional housing building is also part of the project.
