DENVER — Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 — Gov. John Hickenlooper along with 10 other governors today sent a letter to Congressional leadership urging action on behalf of Dreamers. They called for a bipartisan resolution to continue funding for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, also known as DACA.

“This holiday hostage situation has gone on too long,” said Governor John Hickenlooper. “Like CHIP participants, DACA recipients sit in fear as their futures are used as bargaining chips. Lawmakers appear more concerned with personal agendas rather than advancing good policy.”

The governors urge Congress to approve funding for DACA before lawmakers return home for the holidays. Already, more than 12,000 Dreamers have lost their protected status. Each new day, more than 100 young people in cities like Denver face the same fate.
