DENVER — Tuesday, June 27, 2017 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announces Boards and Commissions appointments to the State Board of Parole, Sales and Use Tax Task Force, Securities Board and Transportation Commission.

The State Board of Parole holds hearings and considers applicants for parole, and conducts all proceedings involving revocation of parole.

For terms expiring July 1, 2020:

  • Denise Katherine Balazic of Aurora, to serve as a parole or probation representative, reappointed;
  • Brandon W. Matthews, DM of Colorado Springs, to serve as a citizen representative, reappointed;
  • Alfredo Enrique Pena of Denver, to serve as a citizen representative, reappointed.

The Sales and Use Task Force studies sales and use tax simplification between the state and local governments, including home rule municipalities, to identify opportunities and challenges within existing fiscal frameworks to adopt innovative revenue-neutral solutions that do not require constitutional amendments or voter approval.

For terms expiring July 1, 2020:

  • Paul D. Archer of Centennial, to serve as a representative of a statewide association of small businesses that is addressing the simplification of sales and use tax, appointed;
  • Bruce M. Nelson, MA, CPA of Fort Collins, to serve as a representative of a statewide chamber of commerce, appointed;
  • Neil I. Pomerantz, JD of Denver, to serve as a state or local sales and use tax law practitioner who is not employed by a home rule or statutory city or city and county, appointed;
  • Judith Birch Vorndran, CPA, JD of Denver, to serve as an individual with state and local sales and use tax accounting experience, appointed.

The Securities Board aids and advises the securities commissioner in the promulgation of rules, issuance of orders, formulation of policies, the setting of fees and with other issues affecting the division of securities regulation in the state.

For terms expiring July 1, 2020:

  • Kent Jeffrey Lund JD, MBA, LLM of Denver, to serve as an individual who is licensed by the state supreme court to practice law in the state of Colorado and who is conversant in securities law, appointed;
  • Steven B. Price of Denver, to serve as a member of the public at large, appointed.

The Transportation Commission formulates general policy for the Colorado Department of Transportation with respect to the management, construction and maintenance of public highways and other transportation systems in the state. The Commission also works to assure that the preservation and enhancement of Colorado’s environment, safety, mobility and economics is considered in the planning of all transportation projects.

For terms expiring July 1, 2021:

  • Louella C. Chavez D’Angelo of Lone Tree, to serve as a commissioner from the Third Transportation District, appointed;
  • Shannon Margaret Gifford, CFA of Denver, to serve as a commissioner from the First Transportation District, reappointed;
  • William Thiebaut, Jr. of Pueblo, to serve as a commissioner from the Tenth Transportation District, reappointed;
  • Sidny Kay Zink of Durango, to serve as a commissioner from the Eighth Transportation District, reappointed.
