DENVER —Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 — Gov. John Hickenlooper will hold a press conference this Wednesday with the Associated General Contractors of Colorado (AGC/C) and the Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) to announce a web application that will help Coloradans access the surge of construction jobs in the state.  This tool is part of a larger strategy to help Coloradans build careers in construction.

WHEN: Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.

WHERE: State Capitol, West Foyer

Colorado is experiencing resurgence in construction jobs, and there is a high demand for skilled labor to meet the needs of current and future projects.   A survey conducted in April by the Association of General Contractors of America found that a high percentage of Colorado construction companies were having trouble filling “key craftworker positions” such as drywall installers, equipment operators, cement masons carpenters, pipefitters/welders, and laborers. Ninety-three percent (93%) of those surveyed said in the next 12-months it would remain as hard or become harder to find “qualified construction professionals.

The upcoming announcement will help address the shortage of laborers by connecting Coloradans with jobs and resources for building long-term careers in the industry.
