Governor advocates for reauthorization of Violence Against Women Act

DENVER — Monday, Aug. 13, 2018 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today urged Congress to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) of 2013. The VAWA provides protections to women and others against sexual and intimate partner violence while helping bring their abusers to justice. Under the VAWA, Colorado received 15 awards to local and tribal governments, nonprofits and a university.

DENVER — Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018 — Gov. Hickenlooper today announced Boards and Commissions appointments to the State Rehabilitation Council.

The State Rehabilitation Council advises State Rehabilitation Services on the provision of appropriate and quality services to its customers. A majority of its members must be persons with disabilities.

Hickenlooper today announced Boards and Commissions appointments to the Ground Water Commission, Public Employees’ Retirement Benefit Association Board of Trustees, Colorado Racing Commission, Southern Ute Indian Tribe/State of Colorado Environmental Control Commission, and Strategic Action Planning Group on Aging.

Governor announces resignation of Colorado’s Executive Director of CDPHE and state’s Chief Medical Officer

DENVER — Friday, Aug. 3, 2018 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today announced that Larry Wolk, MD, the state’s chief medical officer and executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), is resigning. Wolk has accepted the role of chief medical officer with the Wonderful Company, based in Santa Monica, California.
